This right here is a condensed form of hell.
Lighting in After Effects is one of the fiddliest things I have ever come across. Atleast when lighting in Maya, you can change the view; it’s orthographic and can be tumbled. In After Effects, you can move the lights in three dimensions, while looking in two dimensions.
Despite this, I do think that I am getting better on After Effects. The main strategy seeming to be: Don’t rotate an object, rotate an entire stage, with the use of nulls.
I am starting to see here the things that I could end up doing in After Effects. However, I can tell that when I get to my later parts of this course, that After Effects won’t be one of the major parts of my portfolio.
